Members needed on city advisory boards

Sidney’s City Council is accepting applications to fill roles on two key advisory boards.

There are three vacancies to be filled, one on the Sidney Airport Authority, two on the Sidney Planning Commission.

The Airport Authority is responsible for the operation of the airport on behalf of the City Council. Members are normally elected for six year terms, but in the case of a vacancy, the city council may appoint a member to serve out a term.

The current Airport Authority vacancy expires in 2020.

Nine members, serving three-year terms, make up the Sidney Planning Commission. Its responsibility is, according to city information, “to make and adopt plans for the physical development of the City and to make recommendations to the appropriate public officials, program for public structures and improvements for financing same.”

A recent move has left the Commission with two vacancies.

Those interested in serving on either board are asked to contact Sidney City Manager Ed Sadler or a council member.
