Christofferson Appears For Status Hearing

Troy A. Christofferson, 20, Sidney appeared for Status Hearing.  He is charged with Using a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony (class II felony), Terroristic Threats (class IIIA felony) and Strangulation (class IIIA felony) and Third Degree Domestic Assault (class I misdemeanor). 

A Jury Trial is scheduled for April 16 and April 17. 

Christofferson was arraigned Tuesday, Jan. 9, on charges of Using a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony (Class II Felony), Terroristic Threats (Class IIIA Felony), and Strangulation (Class IIIA Felony).

Christofferson was arrested early Dec. 24 after officers responded to 1005 Tenth Ave. Troy A. Christofferson, 20, of Sidney, was arrested after officers responded to the front of Stewies Bar, 1005 10th Ave., at 1:58 a.m. Dec. 24. According to the arrest affidavit, officers were on regular patrol when they were dispatched to a reported disturbance involving a woman who had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend.

At the scene, officers met with a woman who was described as visibly upset and crying. She reported she had been strangled by her boyfriend, and that he also held a knife to her throat. According to the affidavit, her boyfriend is known as Troy Christofferson.

She told police he was outside of the apartment rented by her and Christofferson at the time of the report. When officers met Christofferson at the apartment, he said he and the victim "got into a scuffle," according to the affidavit. Officers noted a large bump on her forehead, red marks on her cheeks and redness on her neck, as well as a red abrasion just above Christofferson's nose.

Christofferson also admitted to police that "whatever she told you is true." He admitted to officers he put his hands on her neck, and that he held a knife to her throat.
