Ardith Gillham

Ardith Luree Gillham, a life long resident of Logan County, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10 at the First Baptist Church in Sterling with Rev. John Roberts officiating. A lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony. A private family burial will held.

Ardith was born October 25, 1930 in Sterling, Colorado to Anton and Dessie (Zigler) Nelson. She was the youngest of seven and the only girl in the family. The vast majority of her life was spent living in Peetz, Colorado. She married Ivan Gillham on October 8, 1950 in their hometown of Peetz and they would enjoy 57 years of marriage until Ivan's death in 2007. They raised four children, Linda, Byron, Doug and Penny.

Ardith was active in community clubs and activities and also with her church, First Baptist in Sterling. She actively and passionately supported the Peetz Bulldogs and could be seen at many sporting events. Ardith and Ivan moved to Sterling in 2005 and she continued her active lifestyle.

She is survived by her children; Linda (Mike) Midcap of Wiggins, Byron (Lori) Gillham of Peetz, Doug (Theresa) Gillham of Lodgepole, Nebraska, and Penny Thomson of Sterling; brothers, Mel Nelson of Sterling and Sterling Nelson of Denver. Ardith was blessed with ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan, a granddaughter, Elizabeth, a grandson, Luke and brothers Dale, Delmar, Maynard and Wesley Nelson.
