Woman Arrested in Kimball for Assault With BB Gun

A Kimball woman was arrested Oct. 4 on charges related to an assault with a BB gun at the Kimball Motel.

Police were called to the motel at about 11:33 p.m., in response to a call from a woman reporting she had heard six gunshots while visiting the Kimball Motel. According to the arrest affidavit, the reporting individual was Shirrin Shaifpour, 37. Officers arrived at the Kimball Motel, the desk clerk advised officers of a room rented to a person with the last name of Sharifpour. Officers met an elderly woman outside of the hotel room. According to the report, her right eye was red and swollen shut with blood leaking from the crease of her eye. The woman, Margaret Sharifpour, reported her daughter shot her in the eye.

The affidavit says that while waiting for an ambulance, Sharifpour reported she and her daughter were sharing a room at the hotel because there was a fire at Margaret’s home a week earlier. She reported that at about 11:05 p.m., she and Shirrin were talking, Margaret lying on her bed and Shirrin sitting on the other bed, when Shirrin went outside. When she returned, she said something to Margaret, then shot her in the back of the head twice and once in the right eye.

Shirrin Shaifpour returned to the hotel after the ambulance arrived, according to the affidavit. When she approached the room, she was was taken into custody. When she was asked if she had any weapons on her, she referenced the hotel room regarding “evidence.” Authorities found clear latex gloves, one that contained several bb’s used in bb guns. She was read her Miranda Rights and she said she understood her rights and wanted to answer questions without counsel present. She was transported to Kimball County Jail for further questioning.

While under questioning, she stated she “just lost it or something.” The affidavit says she admitted she planned on shooting Margaret for a “few weeks.” She said she bought the gun online, confirming she knew it was a bb gun. She told authorities it was “the powerful one with the CO2 capsule.” She went on to say she shot “every bullet there was.”

She told authorities she meant to kill Margaret, that she had been thinking about it since lunch that day and had pre-loaded the bb gun.

She was taken into custody on charges of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, First Degree Assault (felony), Criminal Attempt of a Class 1 Felony and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

She is being held on $150,000 bond. She was scheduled to appear in Kimball County Court today (Oct. 12) to schedule her preliminary hearing and to arraign her on a charge of attempted murder.
