Sidney Boys XC Runs Away with District Title

Sidney's Red Raider boys cross country team continued its winning streak by taking the C-4 District title by a wide margin against runner-up Holdrege with four Raider runners earning top 10 finishes. Senior captain Collin Brauer ran strong, finishing first individually with a time of 16:22; a wide margin over second place Holdrege senior Tyler Peterson's time of 16:47.

Senior Carlos Lucero placed sixth with a time of 17:14 followed by freshman Cameron Brauer in seventh with a time of 17:25. Freshman Daniel Bashtovoi finished in ninth place with a time of 17:30. The entire group, including seniors Alex Jallen and Ben Bashtovoi and freshman Mitch Deer all qualify for the State Tournament.

The Sidney girls finished sixth overall, and two runners qualified for the state tournament with top 15 finishes. Junior Taighlor Arnett place eleventh with a time of 21:04 and freshman Lydia Peters finished thirteenth with a time of 21:13.

Sidney's qualifiers will travel to Kearney on Friday for the state tournament.
