WNCC Applied Technical Trades Open House Set for April 10

SCOTTSBLUFF -- There’s nothing wrong with getting your hands a little dirty.

Western Nebraska Community College invites you to do just that at the Applied Technical Trades Open House on Wednesday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Applied Technologies Center on the Scottsbluff Campus. The free event is open to all prospective students and their families.

The Applied Technical Trades Open House will feature a number of hands-on activities to give those attending a greater understanding of the inner workings of WNCC’s applied technology programs.

Attendees are encouraged to climb a pole with the help of WNCC’s Powerline Construction & Maintenance Technology students, check out the 1965 Shelby Cobra replica kit car built by automotive and auto body students, and try driving a semi on a simulator. Students will also tour the WNCC facilities, see the equipment and machinery used on campus, and meet each of the instructors.

“We have a ton of fun at the Applied Technical Trades Open House,” WNCC Admissions Director Gretchen Foster said. “Not only do the students have a blast with the different activities, they can typically discover rather quickly which program of study interests them the most.”

Each of WNCC’s six applied tech programs will be in attendance, including Applied Agriculture Technology, Auto Body Technology, Automotive Technology, Aviation Maintenance, Powerline Construction & Maintenance, and Welding Technology. Additionally, admissions representatives will be available to answer questions and provide clarity on the process of applying to WNCC.

Those interested in attending the open house should RSVP by Monday, April 8 at wncc.edu/admissions/visit-campus. For more information, contact the WNCC Admissions Department at 308-635-6010 or by email at [email protected].
