Memorial Day Services Set for Monday Morning

Sidney Post No. 17 American Legion is hosting Memorial Day Services at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.

Weather permitting, services are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Ted Bourret, past of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, is to give the invocation, followed by Martha Gibbs singing the National Anthem. Les Larsen, commander of the American Legion Post No. 17, will provide the welcome and opening remarks and John Sanna, American Legion District 4 Commander, will be the guest speaker.

The service will also include the Laying of the Wreath, the Firing Squad Salute and Taps, "God Bless the USA" sung by Martha Gibbs, benediction by Pastor Bourret and closing remarks by Commander Larsen.

The Village of Lodgepole will host its Memorial Day services at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Lodgepole. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the National Anthem, a special speaker, reading of the deceased service members, Color Guard and playing of Taps.

Residents of the Gurley and Dalton communities are invited to take part in the services in Dalton. Flag raising is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday, May 27, by the American Legion Post No. 301. The memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday. In case of inclement weather, the services will be moved to the American Legion Hall in Dalton.

Potter's Memorial Day services start at 10 a.m. with Pastor Roger Gillman leading the service. At 11 a.m., a Memorial Day service will be held at the cemetery, followed by a community potluck lunch at the Legion.
