Storm Wins Big Over Hay Springs

The Hay Springs Hawks struggles continued as the Creek Valley Storm took the trip up north and rolled to a 42-to-19 victory Friday night.

The game was called with 8:19 left in the third quarter due to lack of players for the Hay Springs team.

Creek Valley only completed one pass on five attempts, but used five different backs to run the ball for a total of 154 yards on the ground.Hay Springs fought hard and stayed competitive with a well-played second quarter, but did not have the players to continue the game in the third quarter. Storm junior Patrick Ningen led all rushers with 71 yards on seven carries with a touchdown.

Ningen, junior Tucker Graeff, and sophomore Drew Fraas each had 11 total tackles and junior Oakley Hodges blocked two punts in the victory. On Friday, Creek Valley travels to Hyannis to take on the Longhorns.

Leyton/Banner Falls to Morrill

After a good start that had the WarCats only trailing 8-to-0 going into the second quarter, the Morrill Lions exploded for 32 points in the second quarter to open an insurmountable 40-to-6 lead on their way to a 52-to-6 victory against the visiting Leyton/Banner County squad last Friday. Sophomore Scout Gamble completed 5 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown, while the Lions shut down the WarCats rushing attack, limiting the WarCats to 9 rushing attempts for 18 yards.
