Leadership Program Graduates Class of 14

The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce leadership program held a ceremony commemorating the completion of its recent class.

The class project was promotion of non-profit organizations with "Show Me Your 501c3 and I'll Show You Ours."

The event was held at the Sidney Elks Lodge with each organizations accepting donations and promoting its programs.

There was also a donation lunch and a silent auction with proceeds returned to the non-profit of the buyer's choice.

About 30 non-profit vendors were present at the event.

The silent auction raised $3,837 and the Elks Lodge earned $450 in lunch donations.

In researching and planning the project, students discovered there are at least 200 non-profit organizations in the Sidney area.

"I was excited about this class. I am excited to see where you take what you learned," said Emily Thomas.

Thomas is the class facilitator and a Chamber board member.
