Lady Warriors Runners-Up, Lady Coyotes Third at MAC Tournament

BRIDGEPORT--On Saturday, October 14, the Leyton Lady Warriors and Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes traveled to Bridgeport for the annual MAC Tournament, and both teams went 2-and-1 at the tournament, giving Leyton a second place finish and Potter-Dix a third place result.

Potter-Dix started their day as the third seed and started with a match against number 6 seed Minatare, and the Lady Coyotes had no trouble breezing through, 25-to-15, 25-to-15, for the 2-to-0 match victory. Number 2 seed Leyton's first match was against number 7 seed Creek Valley, and the Lady Warriors had no trouble against the Lady Storm, winning is straight sets 25-to-7, 25-to-12.

Potter-Dix and Leyton met up in the second round, and the Lady Warriors were able to win in straight sets, 25-to-15, 25-to-19. Senior Trinity Beutler led the Lady Warriors' offense with 10 kills in the match. Potter-Dix finished up the tournament with a matchup against number 4 seed Garden County, and it took three sets for the Lady Coyotes to come out on top, 25-to-16, 21-to-25 and 25-to-18. Leyton then had to match up with undefeated number 1 seed Bayard, and the Lady Tigers showed why they are the class of the district, winning in straight sets 25-to-16, 25-to-21.

Leyton was scheduled to finish out the regular season with a home matchup against South Platte and Garden County on Tuesday, while the Lady Coyotes finish with a home matchup against Creek Valley on Tuesday, and another home match against South Platte on Friday.
