Lady Raiders Take Top Honors At Ed Moore Invite

Boys Place Fourth Overall

OGALLALA--Sidney's Red Raider Track & Field teams traveled to Ogallala High School on Thursday, March 28, to compete at the annual Ed Moore Invitational. The Lady Raiders were the class of the meet, taking top honors with 125.5 points. Chase County placed second and Gothenburg earned third place honors. The boys' team did not fare as well, scoring 73.5 points and placing fourth behind third-place Cozad, second-place Gothenburg and first-place Chase County.

For the girls, outstanding performances highlighted the entire day, with senior Karsyn Leeling winning the High Jump, Long Jump and being a part of the winning 4X100 Meter Relay team, leading her to be awarded the Outstanding Female Athlete of the Meet. Senior Chloe Ahrens, who did not compete in the hurdles at the Sidney Invite, started off her season with a win in the 300 Meter Hurdles, a third place finish in the 100 meter Hurdles, and was part of the winning 4X100 Meter Relay team.

Senior Payton Schrotberger had a big day, and scored a lot of points for the Lady Raiders, with a second place finish in the Long Jump, a second place showing in the 200 Meters, a fourth place finish in the 100 Meters and was part of the 4X100 Meter Relay team. Senior Talissa Tanquary had an outstanding day, winning the 400 meters, and placing second in the 800 meters. Freshman Melody Sanchez is making a name for herself early in her Lady Raider track career, with a win in the 200 Meters, a win as part of the 4X100 meter Relay team, and a sixth place finish in Pole Vault.

For the boys, senior Isak Doty won both the 100 Meters and 200 meters and was part of the winning 4X100 Meter Relay team, junior Landon Riddle won the Long Jump, placed second in the 100 Meters and was part of the winning 4X100 Meter Relay team. Senior Lance Holly scored well for Sidney with a third place showing in the 200 Meters, a fifth place finish in the 100 meters and was part of the winning 4X100 Meter Relay team.
