  • Cheyenne Co. mulls 'livestock friendly' designation

    Whether Cheyenne County should apply for a livestock friendly designation through the Nebraska Department of Agriculture was discussed at a county commissioners meeting earlier this week.     KEARNEY, Neb. – Several local students at University of Nebraska at Kearney were named to the Deans’ List for the spring 2015 semester. Honored were: Morgan Linneman, Seth Schuessler, Sara Wright, Tessa Schumacher, Kaitlyn Wells, all of Sidney; and Rachael Ernest of Dalton. Students who are on the Deans’ List must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.     GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Brandy Collins of Chappell made the Dean’s List for the 2015 spring semester at Central Community College. The students were enrolled at one or more CCC locations, which include the Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings campuses; Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington centers; and learning centers in about 60 central Nebraska towns.     AMES, Iowa – Chappell’s McKenzie Steger was one of 4,345 students who received degrees at Iowa State’s spring commencement. It awarded 3,646 undergraduate degrees, 448 master’s degrees, 147 veterinary medicine degrees and 104 doctor of philosophy degrees.
