Hit and run still under investigation

Authorities are still looking for a motorist involved in a hit and run that occurred west of Sidney on Hwy. 30 last week.

According to a Cheyenne County Sheriff’s accident report at 8:55 p.m. on Friday, July 22, a white 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 60 year-old Edwin Bennet was traveling west bound on Hwy. 30 near mile marker 55 when it was clipped by a motorcycle approaching from behind him.

The report states that Bennet turned his blinker on, and slowed to make a turn. When the vehicle behind Bennet attempted to pass him by going around, it clipped the front end of Bennet’s truck.

Jensen said the Sheriff’s office had a “few ideas” but have yet to find the motorist that left the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s report damages were estimated to be $1000.
