Peetz Volleyball Defeats Caliche

It was a long time coming, but the Peetz Lady Bulldog volleyball team earned its' first win of the season in a match that started out looking to be yet another defeat for a team that always battles hard despite their record.

The Caliche Lady Buffaloes traveled to Peetz also looking for their first win of the 2018 campaign, and for the first two sets it seemed the visitors would have a win worth celebrating.

The first set was close, but the Lady Buffaloes were able to keep the Lady Bulldogs at bay, taking the set 25-to-19. The second set had Caliche even more in control, and the visitors took the second set and a commanding 2-to-0 against Peetz. But the third set started the turnaround for the Lady Bulldogs, as they battled the Caliche team and kept enough momentum to take the third set 25-to-14.

The fourth set had the teams battling all the way until the end, with the Peetz team bearing down and holding on to win 27-to-25. The fifth set, when necessary, ends when one team earns fifteen points, and the Lady Bulldogs were full of momentum and confidence after coming back to tie the match that Caliche could not overcome Peetz's late surge, and lost the final set 15-to-10.

Peetz head coach Morgan Meier was pleased with her team's performance, saying after the match, "This was a great hard fought win for us. We were battling illness all night, with one of our starters out, others not feeling well, and with only eight girls on our roster it really gave us a challenge. It really showed our mental toughness and I'm so proud of how we fought back to earn such a great team win."

Peetz hopes to keep their momentum going against Creek Valley at home on Thursday of next week.
