  • Hickory Street Square closed to traffic for holiday activities

    On Tuesday evening the city council urged community development director Megan McGown to make sure that there are enough holiday events scheduled to take place at Hickory Street Square to ensure that closing off the block is worthwhile. McGown came before the council to ask for the closure of the square to traffic for Christmas events from Nov. 22 through the end of December.   • City's belated trail expansion project back on track

    The Cheyenne County School Board met Monday night and again discussed future plans for a new elementary school. Superintendent Jay Ehler elaborated the meetings held last month for the public to voice concerns and ask questions. Ehler discovered that the board needs to better communicate to the community how the plan affects the north side and how transportation will work.     The Cheyenne County School Board took the time to honor young people in the community going above and beyond at their meeting on Monday. The first person to be recognized was Matt McKay for the Sidney Raider webcasting project. During the second football game of the season, the Raiders were on the road and McKay thought how welcome it would be if he could watch the game online.
