    By Robert Hilpert, PVFD, special to the Sidney Sun-Telegraph The 2023 PVFD Firefighters Memorial Golf Tournament was held August 12, 2023 at the Prairie Pines Golf Course in Potter. This is a seven hole golf course, where each team goes around twice, making it 14 holes, with par being 52. Nineteen teams in all participated this year, and resulted in having three flights.     It's been a fun season for the Cheyenne County Community Center Softball League, if somewhat marred by multiple cancellations and rescheduled games due to the area's fickle weather patterns.     Leyton's Lady Warrior Volleyball team had an unexpected trip Monday, coming down from Dalton to practice at the Cheyenne County Community Center. The gym floor at Leyton High School was refinished and not quite ready for use, so Leyton Volleyball Head Coach Natasha Haupt had her girls come down to Sidney for their scheduled morning practice.     Perfect weather Sunday morning was on tap for the SSP Outlaw Pistol Match at the Sidney Shooting Park. 31 competitors took their places at the range for a day of sharp shooting friendly competition.     Sidney's American Legion Post 17 Junior Baseball team traveled up to Gering over the weekend for the Area District Tournament, and lost their elimination game to Alliance on Sunday in a heartbreaker, 9-to-8.
